Thrifting your clothes is a great way to reduce your environmental impact since clothes take a lot of resources to produce. Not everyone has access to thrift stores near them, which can be discouraging. However, there are so many online thrift stores to choose from, which will definitely make secondhand shopping a lot easier for you!
Quick Navigation
1. Poshmark
Poshmark is great if you know what you’re looking for. I’ve gotten a few things off Poshmark that I really like and still wear, so if you see something you really like, it’s definitely worth a try! The only downside for me is that most things are pretty overpriced and you can’t return what you buy, so it’s best to be sure you really want something before buying it.
2. thredUP
Thredup is an excellent online thrift store. They have some really low-priced items that are actually super cute! It’s great if you usually shop at a specific clothing store but want to buy secondhand because you can choose which stores to buy from.
I got a few things from them before, and they’re super cute and look new! Just make sure to check the measurements before purchasing!
If this is your first time shopping with thredUP, get 10$ off your first order!
3. Etsy
Shopping on Etsy is a great alternative because you’re supporting small businesses and individual people while also making more sustainable choices! They have tons of options for secondhand and vintage clothes. Etsy also offsets 100% of its shipping carbon emissions by investing in projects that reduce them.
For an extra eco-friendly package, DM the seller and ask them to send the item plastic-free or in a reused envelope or box!

4. Vestaire Collective
Vestaire Collective is the first certified B Corp fashion resale platform in the world. They also sell secondhand luxury items from individual sellers which are authenticated to ensure you’re not being sold a fake item. All their packaging is recycled and recyclable.
5. eBay
I feel like eBay is the OG secondhand online store. It’s been around for so long and is so widely known with tons of people selling their used items. We’ve all heard of it and it may not have the best reputation so you may have taken a dislike to it, but this is the secondhand store known for buying cheap things with such a wide selection.
It’s especially great if you’re looking for something really specific. If you’re nervous about buying, make sure the seller accepts returns just to be safe!
6. The Real Real
The Real Real not only allows people to sell their used clothing items but also upcycles old pieces of clothing. The items that can’t be upcycled are kept out of landfills by either donation or textile recycling. The Real Real also uses FSC-certified packaging.
